Moms Carry 71% of the Mental Load—And It’s Breaking Us Down

A 2024 study published in Frontiers in Psychology found that mothers carry 71% of the household’s mental load, even when both parents work full time. That includes everything from remembering appointments- dentist, doctor, birthday party,  soccer practice, deadlines to sign up for camp. As well as managing emotional needs such kids having a bad day at school, someone was mean to them, getting that dreaded call from the school about behavior. It’s constant.
